The World Cup through History and Graphic Design

The Real Work Project Momentum: A World Cup Legacy, implemented in collaboration between AKTO and INTERSPORT, highlights the History of the World Cup through the power of Graphic Design.
Exploring the cultural and historical legacy of the FIFA World Cup through contemporary design, final-year students of the BA (Hons) Graphic Design university program participated in a demanding RWP, as part of their Professional Practice.
Starting from the INTERSPORT Football Temple and inspired by the World Cup, they developed original themed calendars and microsites, utilizing illustration, typography, infographics, and narrative systems. Each proposal transformed research into a complete experience, demonstrating how design can connect sports, history, and culture through the power of visual communication.
The awards ceremony for the winners and finalists in the two competition categories took place during the opening of the annual Art & Design Show 2026, at the Athens Campus.
At the “Vlasis Vellios” Amphitheater, we welcomed George Armodoros (Regional Category Manager of Football) who conveyed congratulatory wishes from the INTERSPORT team to every participant and presented the Awards and Commendations to the honorees. The RWP honorees were:
Category > Calendar
1st Award | Bertoli Spyridoula
1st Commendation | Apostolopoulos Andreas
2nd Commendation | Michalaria Chrysoula
3rd Commendation | Gollosi Kristina
Category > Microsite

The RWP was implemented as part of the Professional Practice course, under the guidance of Programme Leader George Theodorou and members of the BA (Hons) Graphic Design academic team: Markos Zouridakis, Haris Karantzas, Nasia Kefala and Dimitris Tsimbirimpis.
Through Real Work Projects, AKTO offers students the opportunity to work on real professional briefs, develop comprehensive projects for their portfolio, and gain valuable experience. In collaboration with leading institutions, brands & organizations, students develop skills that prepare them for the contemporary creative economy.
