Members of the AKTO Vocational Training Institute student community embarked on a journey into the world of Screen Printing with their visit to the Hermes Screenprinting workshop. Groups of students from the Graphic Design, Illustration, and Animation specializations participated in specially designed workshops, which introduced them to the Art of Screen Printing and provided them with the opportunity to print selected designs on paper and fabric.
The student groups were accompanied by their professors: Aggelina Voskopoulou, Manos Diamantidis, and Nikos Pantelidis.
Screen Printing has its roots in the 10th century (Asia), while modern Screen Printing dates back to the early 20th century. As a method of expression & creation, this type of artistic printing became particularly popular after 1960 through Andy Warhol, who used it to produce original works and reproductions on canvas. Today, Screen Printing is applied in a multitude of commercial tasks, as its main characteristic is its ability to print on a variety of materials (paper, plastic, metal, wood, fabric, etc.). Simultaneously, it is used from a purely artistic perspective for the creation of signed copies of posters or paintings.

Hermes Screenprinting is a family-owned workshop in Piraeus, operating since 1980, specializing in screen printing on clothing, bags & textile items. Every print passes through the hands of the employees with care, patience, and artistry. It is a job that requires technique, but also sensibility. It is not done in bulk, it is not done hastily.
