The results of the study, conducted within the framework of Professional Practice, are presented by the students of the university program BA (Hons) Interior Architecture. The exhibition Interior Architecture | Professional Practice Exhibition 2026 is hosted at the AKTO Gallery of the Athens Campus.
Opening: Wednesday, April 29 | 18:00
Students are called upon to face a dual challenge during their 3rd year of studies: the diploma thesis that will strengthen their academic background, and their entry into the professional arena, aiming to build the profile of an informed – contemporary Designer, with self-confidence. Thus, within the framework of Professional Practice, they study a series of buildings that present particular architectural interest. Buildings – Landmarks due to their location and use, which are identified with the evolution of Modern Greece in relation to both its economy and society.
In this “course,” acquired knowledge & skills are cumulatively utilized with the aim of presenting a comprehensive study. The development of the concept, the methodology, and the strategic development are holistically documented in each design approach. Special emphasis is placed on the “Transition” from the initial function to a new proposed use that revives the shell – symbolically – while simultaneously redefining the functional program.
The methodological analysis, through specialized paths, aims to utilize scale and demonstrate – as a basic compositional tool – the dynamic of interaction. The transition from large scale to architecture and finally to small scale, defines correlations from Spatial to Sustainable, culminating in Retail Design. In the creative process, the “partial” composes the “whole” and vice versa. Concepts of locality, eco-friendliness, and variability holistically document the narrative of the design study, orienting students towards realistic goals, while simultaneously sensitizing them to human-centered approaches. These elements strengthen skills capable of responding to the contemporary needs and challenges of design philosophy.
Exhibition duration: April 29 to May 20.
The exhibition is open to the public, with free admission, during the operating hours of the Athens Campus.
In the photo gallery, we see visuals from the works of Georgia Gionaki, Maria Karadima, and Lampros Matsikas, final-year BA (Hons) Interior Architecture students, in the academic year 2025-2026.
