Visual Arts<\/strong> <\/strong>Exhibition<\/strong> <\/strong>by Alumni<\/strong> BA (Hons) Fine Art & New Media<\/strong> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With the group visual arts exhibition \u201c<\/strong>P<\/strong>o<\/strong>st<\/strong> <\/strong>tenebras<\/strong> <\/strong>lux<\/strong>\u201d<\/strong>, our graduates from the BA (Hons) Fine Art & New Media<\/a> university program embark on their entry, as emerging artists, into the field of contemporary visual arts production. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition is hosted at the Technochoros<\/strong><\/a> art space, curated by the equally emerging Art Historian, Kalypsos Giannakopoulou<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating artists, in alphabetical order, are: Denisa Koci, Giorgos Koursoumpas, Alexis Magiar-Angelopoulos, Dimitris Papadatos, Ch. Papadimitriou, Krizia Rodriguez <\/strong>and Stefanos Tsiamoulis.<\/strong>\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participating artists are, for the most part, taking their first steps in art. Some of them already have exhibitions to their credit both domestically and abroad, while there are also those who, after AKTO, continue their studies in art. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition \u201cPost Tenebras Lux”<\/strong> is a <\/strong>conscious decision for a group presence, which transcends the simple presentation of individual works and functions as a statement of position towards the contemporary artistic and social condition. It captures the existential crisis experienced by the modern generation, both artistically and personally. The dark element unites the works, presenting different human stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Curator Kalypsos Giannakopoulou states in the exhibition statement:\u202f“Although the works originate from different starting points and utilize various media such as painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed techniques, they converge in an intensely dramatic visual language. The dark element functions as a common point of reference, not as a superficial aesthetic choice, but as a necessary expressive tool. The exhibition proposes darkness as a space for meaning-making, as a field within which contemporary experience gains visibility. In this context, Post Tenebras Lux converses with the historical tradition of Romanticism and Symbolism, where emotion, existential anxiety, and the allusive element transcend faithful representation. The image does not describe but suggests; the form does not function as a recognizable body, but as a carrier of memory, fear, and inner tension.<\/em> At the same time, the exhibition incorporates elements of expressionistic and surrealistic thought, where the subjective and the unconscious shape the visual narrative.” She continues by writing, “A central role is held by the tension between the familiar and the uncanny, a concept that runs through much of contemporary artistic practice. The familiar transforms into the threatening, while the realistic coexists with the surreal. Reality and fantasy do not function as opposing poles, but as communicating vessels of an experience characterized by uncertainty and fluidity. The title of the exhibition does not function as a promise of redemption, but as an allegorical journey. Light does not negate darkness; it follows it<\/em> [..]<\/em> Darkness has grown immensely. We can see its references in the works, look at it through them. We must not fear it. If we cross it, we will conquer it. As long as we ignore it, it devours everything in its path. But after darkness, light comes. There are not always exits; sometimes we have to create them.” <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We declare our pride every time the members of the AKTO Alumni community dare, make their presence known, and spread their wings to achieve their dreams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
